Why it matters
Militia service in Barbados was limited to free adult men; indentured servants could not be mustered. So the entry shows Daniel had finished any term of service and was a recognized free resident of the parish. Irish indentures typically ran four to seven years, which puts his arrival on the island no later than the early 1670s — the decade of heavy migration out of Munster.
